10 cameras mounted on 2 sliders attached on two grand pianos, enlarge the act of playing live on a large screen above the pianos.
The Composition Canto Ostinato by Simeon Ten Holt, cult in the Benelux and beyond, is percepted and «analized» in another way, when the symetry of the piano in contrast to the human being, the faces and the playing hands, is visualized live.
The structure of the composition is that of a dialog between the pianists – here two, but can be played up to four key instruments – so the dialogue is happening on several levels: the dialogue between the pianist, the composition and the piano, the dialogue between the two (or more) pianists to make choices together and finally the dialogue between the pianists and the videographer, who drives the cameras on sliders with the action and mixes the images live onto the screen.
